BYD Uzbekistan Factory
In October 2023, BYD signed a landmark investment agreement with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, reaffirming its long-term commitment to developing local manufacturing capacity and strengthening bilateral economic ties between China and Uzbekistan. Building on this agreement, the company officially entered the Uzbek market by launching production at the Jizzakh Free Economic Zone in January 2024, marking a significant milestone in the country's automotive sector.
The project is fully aligned with Uzbekistan's strategic priorities in industrial modernization, the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, and the transition to sustainable mobility. By establishing local assembly and manufacturing operations, BYD Uzbekistan Factory contributes to the creation of new jobs, the transfer of advanced electric and hybrid vehicle technologies, and the diversification of the national automotive industry. The initiative also supports Uzbekistan's broader environmental goals by expanding access to new-energy vehicles (NEVs) and reducing the country's dependence on traditional fossil-fuel-powered transport.
