As the grid expands at record pace, the country is turning to localization — with $823.9 million allocated across 12 projects to manufacture the components it currently imports. U zbekistan's energy system is entering a new stage of development. Rising demand for electricity, the rapid construction of solar and wind power plants, the introduction of energy storage systems, and the expansion of trunk transmission networks are creating new and sustained demand for electrical engineering products. This growth is no longer limited to building new power plants alone. Connecting new capacities to the grid, managing power flows, regulating voltage, rapidly detecting faults, storing energy, and digitally managing consumption all require modern electrical engineering components — most of which are still sourced abroad. The core problem While the country's energy infrastructure expands, a large share of the high-tech components required for its operation — BMS modules, DSP processors, HVDC and FACTS equipment, OLTC, high-voltage bushings, protection automation, smart circuit breakers, wind components and residential storage — is imported. That raises foreign-currency outflow, deepens external dependence, and limits local engineering capability. Localization is not simply import substitution — it is a strategic task that ensures energy security and industrial independence. Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade Managing energy storage systems import → BMS manufacturing Real-time signal processing import → DSP chip manufacturing Long-distance transmission import → HVDC manufacturing Voltage & power flow control import → FACTS manufacturing Transformer voltage regulation import → OLTC manufacturing High-voltage insulation import → HV bushings Digital grid monitoring import → Smart breakers/sockets Residential energy storage almost absent → Home storage systems Twelve projects, five regions The Ministry has developed 12 investment projects aimed at closing these gaps — spanning storage and digital management, trunk transmission and high-voltage equipment, transformer components, and renewable energy parts. Conclusion The next stage of Uzbekistan's energy sector will be defined not only by building new power plants, but by domestically manufacturing the technologies that manage, protect, transmit and store that energy. Together, these projects form a foundation for a modern electrical engineering industry — expanding the manufacturing chain and strengthening the sector's technological independence.

Within the framework of this initiative, held under the motto “The 35th Anniversary of Independence through the Eyes of the Youth of New Uzbekistan,” the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency announces the “My Volunteer Story” competition. The competition aims to promote volunteerism, foster civic engagement among young people, and support initiatives that contribute to positive changes in society. Competition Terms Young people and volunteers aged 18 to 29 are invited to participate. Participants are encouraged to share their stories about: their personal experience in volunteer activities; social projects and initiatives they have implemented; their contribution to positive changes in society; the knowledge, skills, and values they have gained through volunteering. Entries may be submitted in text or video format . Submissions will be accepted until 6:00 PM on June 27, 2026. Entries should be uploaded via the following link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MXVif7OQwnjyRKwVIuKO24bRZV3IThnE?usp=drive_link Entries submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Evaluation Criteria The competition committee will evaluate submissions based on the following criteria: relevance to the competition theme; depth and quality of content; originality and creativity of the author’s approach; social significance of the story; logical structure and coherence; literacy and quality of language. Awards Three winners will be selected at the end of the competition. They will receive commemorative gifts – books on business, leadership, and personal development – as well as diplomas from the Agency. The winners will be determined by the competition committee based on the established evaluation criteria. If volunteering has become an important part of your life and you have a story worth sharing, tell it. Perhaps your story will inspire others to take their first step toward doing good.
Ipoteka Bank OTP Group reaffirms its commitment to the development of sustainable energy and the support of environmentally responsible investments by becoming a key lender for two major wind power projects being implemented by ACWA Power in the Bukhara region. These projects are aimed at fulfilling Uzbekistan’s ambitious renewable energy development strategy and actively stimulating the country’s economic growth. Innovation and Sustainable Development as Drivers of Economic Progress The Bash Wind and Dzhankeldy Wind projects, with a combined capacity of 1,000 MW, are among the largest wind power plants in Central Asia. With an expected annual generation of 3.3 TWh of clean energy, these facilities will make a significant contribution to achieving the national goal of increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the country’s energy mix to 25% by 2030. Ipoteka Bank OTP Group, acting as the sole provider of working capital financing of USD 20 million for each project, reaffirms its role as a financial institution actively promoting Uzbekistan’s transition to a green economy. Together with its international partner, ACWA Power of Saudi Arabia, the bank supports advanced technologies, including modern Envision wind turbines and comprehensive NOMAC maintenance services, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the power plants. The implementation of the Bash Wind and Dzhankeldy Wind projects creates new jobs, contributes to infrastructure development, and attracts international investment, thereby stimulating sustainable economic growth in Uzbekistan. In addition, the projects comply with high ESG standards and are classified as “green,” reducing the country’s carbon footprint and strengthening its position in the global energy market. “Ipoteka Bank OTP Group is proud of its contribution to the development of renewable energy in Uzbekistan by supporting innovative projects that not only promote economic growth but also create a sustainable future for our country,” said Sandro Rtveladze, Chairman of the Management Board of Ipoteka Bank OTP Group. These investments are a vivid example of how strategic cooperation between financial institutions, the government, and international partners can contribute to sustainable development, innovation, and the strengthening of Uzbekistan’s economic potential. Ipoteka Bank will continue to actively support projects aimed at developing green energy and implementing national priorities in the fields of environmental protection and economic development, making a significant contribution to the future of the country and the region.
On July 15, 2025, the Investment Promotion Agency signed a cooperation agreement with one of South Korea’s leading industrial companies, KCC Corporation , to implement an automotive paint production project.
